It will take place in the Institute of Statistics and Operations Research of the Karl-Franzens Universität Graz, located at the ReSoWi Zentrum.
Universitätsstr. 15 / E3
8010-Graz, Austria

from 17th to 19th of October, 2013.

Welcoming Words from the Governor of Styria, Austria:
Mag. Franz Voves

LH Franz Voves“In the last couple of years, Austria has been the country with the lowest unemployment rate, particularly among young people, within the European Union. The measures we have taken to maintain high employment constitute a well-balanced scheme that is considered as a role model throughout Europe. Moreover, in terms of economic growth Austria ranges amongst the best countries within the EU.   Certainly, all this is no coincidence but rather the result of a number of concrete decisions – decisions which will also be discussed in detail at the EURO Mini-conference in Graz. This conference from 17th – 19th of October 2013 will be attended by numerous national as well as international experts who will address various questions relating to the central issue “Collaborative Decision Systems in Economics and in Complex Societal and Environmental Applications”.  I would like to thank the organizational team for their great commitment and give all the participants a warm welcome to Graz. I wish you all interesting discussions and a nice stay in Styria!

Welcoming Words from the Rector of the University of Graz:
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christa Neuper

Rector Uni-Graz“The University of Graz is happy to host the EURO Mini-Conference 2013 and warmly welcomes the Association of European Operational Research Societies with its interdisciplinary Working Groups. I thank the organizers for their commitment. I am sure the conference will be an important contribution to the promotion of Operational Research throughout Europe.
At the University of Graz, Operational Research, integrated in the Faculty of Business, Social and Economic Sciences, enjoys a high reputation and is embedded in a world-wide international network. May the EURO Mini-Conference 2013 provide further stimulation of the discipline and offer a forum for many fruitful discussions”.

Welcoming Words from the Dean of the School of Business, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Graz: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Foscht

Dean“On behalf of the School of Business, Economics and Social Sciences I welcome you to the EURO Mini-Conference 2013. Operational Research is an important and well established research area at our School located in the department of Statistics and Operations Research, which built a stellar reputation in the last decades. The organization of the EURO Mini-Conference this year in Graz is another milestone in this development. I hope the conference will offer you a good basis for academic discussions and the exchange of ideas. Special thanks go to the faculty and staff of the department without whom this conference would not have been possible”.

Due to its interdisciplinary flavour, this conference brings together researchers of the areas of Decision Sciences, Operations Research, Economics, Societal Complexity, Environmental Management and their respective fields of applications. Collaborative Decision Systems in the areas of Economics, Societal and Environmental Applications are very much encouraged to be submitted to this EURO Mini-Conference.
